FYI, this story is more than a year old

The first teaser trailer for Battlefield 3 has released, and the first details are beginning to surface.

Electronic Arts has launched an official website for the game, which reveals a "Fall 2011" launch. Developed once again by DICE, the game will run the Frostbite 2 engine - the next generation of the engine used to power the Battlefield: Bad Company games. Also revealed is that the game will feature both single-player and co-operative campaigns, players can assume a prone position for the first time (a much-requested feature), and that the PC version of the game will allow for up to 64 players simultaneously.

Although currently unconfirmed, it's believed that those who pick up the Limited Edition of Battlefield 3 will receive the "Back to Karkand" downloadable content for free. Reportedly, Back to Karkand is a recreation of four maps from Battlefield 2, and also includes new trophies and achievements.
